The Legacy Center STL: Celebrating 2024’s Impact and Looking Ahead to 2025!
Wow, what a year it’s been! As we kick off 2025, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the incredible achievements of The Legacy Center STL in 2024. It’s been a year of growth, partnerships, and most importantly, making a real difference in our 24:1 community.
Celebrating Milestones and Impact in 2024:
- Happy 2nd Anniversary! We celebrated our second birthday on January 16th – a testament to the dedication and support of our community.
- Serving Our Youth and Educators: We proudly served over 2,000 young people and more than 500 educators, providing professional resources and growth opportunities.
- Stronger Together: Partnering with 24:1 School District: We forged a valuable partnership with the 24:1 school district, strengthening our commitment to local education.
- Summer Fun and Learning: Our weekly summer camp hosted over 120 attendees, providing enriching experiences and fostering a love of learning and collaboration.
- Giving Back to the Community: The HERU Community Garden flourished, donating fresh produce back to the community and promoting sustainable practices.
Looking Ahead: Exciting Goals for 2025:
We’re not stopping there! We have big plans for 2025, focusing on continued growth and expanding our impact. Here’s a sneak peek:
- Continued Growth and Funding: We’re committed to expanding our programs and securing even more funding to support our mission. We are planning Cyber STL Day (Feb. 28) and STEM314 Day.
- Partnering for the Future: We’re thrilled to announce exciting new partnerships:
- St. Louis City SC Soccer Program: Get ready for some action on the field! We’re teaming up with St. Louis City SC to bring a fantastic soccer program to The Legacy Center STL.
- BJC Behavioral Health Support: We’re partnering with BJC to establish vital behavioral health support and counseling programs, ensuring the well-being of our community.
- Project REACH (Realizing Equitable Access to Cybersecurity in High School): This national feeder program connects K-12 schools to computer science programs at HBCUs and other minority-serving organizations, in partnership with Lincoln University and Ameren.
- Building Community Through Reading: We’re launching a monthly Community Book Read, bringing together adults, young adults, and elementary students to share the joy of reading and engage in enriching live discussions.
- Expanding Horizons with “The City and Beyond”: Every Saturday, we’ll be launching “The City and Beyond,” a program designed to expose youth to new experiences outside their immediate neighborhoods. This includes:
- Cultural events
- Museum visits
- In-state and out-of-state field trips
- A partnership with the Missouri Conservation Department to establish local hiking opportunities with TLC STL, fostering a love of nature.
This program is designed to build trust with our youth and strengthen relationships with their parents, creating a stronger and more connected community.
